In addition to external keynote speakers, PhD students and Postdocs are encouraged to present their work. With an informal but high quality atmosphere, the meeting aims to foster discussion and inspiring new and strengthen existing collaborations. [more]

Mina Bissell – Closing the Loop: “How a Linear DNA Sequence Becomes a Three Dimensional Tissue and How it May Become Malignant and Metastatic”

Special Guest Seminar
Mina Bissell has been recognized for her lifetime contributions to the fields of breast cancer research, the enhanced role of extracellular matrix (ECM) and the nucleus environment to gene expression in normal and malignant tissues. These works have ushered and have changed some central paradigms that have strengthened the importance of context in the development of cancer. [more]

Meinrad Busslinger - Control of B cell immunity and leukemia by the transcription factor Pax5

Special Guest Seminar

Angelika Rambold – Organellen-Netzwerke. Wie sich die Organe unserer Zellen aufeinander abstimmen.

Forschung höchstpersönlich
The talk series “Forschung höchstpersönlich” was established in 2012 at the MPI-IE. Four times a year, scientists of the institute present their research within a broader context to non-scientific employees to allow better insights into the performed research. The talks are hosted by the public relations officer of the institute and are given in German. [more]

Marc Schmidt-Supprian – Investigating Lymphomagenesis, NF-kB Activation and Beyond

Special Guest Seminar
The research group of Professor Schmidt-Supprian (b. 1972) investigates aspects of human autoimmune diseases and immune cell cancers in genetically modified mice. Professor Schmidt-Supprian studied chemistry and biochemistry at the Universities of Würzburg and Tübingen and Trinity College Dublin. Between 1999 and 2003 he performed his doctoral studies under the supervision of Professor Rajewsky at the University of Cologne and Harvard Medical School, acquiring his doctorate in 2003. He continued to work with Professor Rajewsky at Harvard as a postdoctoral fellow (2004) and as a junior investigator/instructor in pathology (2004-2007). At the end of 2007 Professor Schmidt-Supprian started a DFG Emmy Noether research group at the Max Planck Institute of Biochemistry. In 2014 he was appointed to a tenure track professorship position at TUM. [more]

Christoph Kleineidam – Colony coherence and individual decisions in ants

Biologisches Kolloquium – Uni Freiburg
Christoph Kleineidam is heading a neurobiology research group at the University of Konstanz. In his research he aims to better understand the neuronal basis of behavior and its consequences for social organization in insects. [more]
