The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany invites applications for two Postdoctoral Positions in the Laboratory of Prof. Rudolf Grosschedl (Department of Cellular and Molecular Immunology). The positions are available for an initial two-year appointment with the possibility of extension.

The MPI of Immunobiology and Epigenetics is an international research institute at the cross-road of Southern Germany, Switzerland and France and offers a stimulating, international and interdisciplinary research environment. The MPI provides state-of-the-art service facilities, including Transgenic Mouse Unit, Cell Sorting, Mass Spectrometry, Bioinformatics, Deep-Sequencing and Live Cell Imaging.

Our Institute investigates the molecular basis of the immune response and other topics of the developmental biology, such as the origin and differentiation of the immune cells as well as the develop-ment of vertebrate embryo. Another main focus of the Institute is Epigenetic. This area deals with inheritable traits, which are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence.

Your tasks

The lab is seeking highly motivated and experienced postdoctoral fellows to study the function of transcription factor networks and higher-order chromatin structure in B lymphocytes. Approaches used include molecular and cellular techniques, FACS analysis, in vitro cell differentiation assays and chromatin profiling.

Your qualifications

Applicants should have an academic degree in life science plus PhD with at least 3 years of proven research experience in the area of Immunology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or Imaging. Candidates should have a good publication record. Ability to work in a team, communication skills and experience in the supervision of graduate students are an asset.

Our offer

Salaries will be based on previous experience according to guidelines of the collective wage agreement for the public service (TVöD).
