Manolis Papamichos-Chronakis obtained his Ph.D at the University of Crete/IMBB, Heraklion, Greece in the lab of Dimitris Tzamarias in 2003. From 2004-2010 he was Post-doctoral fellow at University of Massachusetts Medical School, Boston, USA.
In 2010 he became Appointed Group Leader at Curie Institute, Paris, France. Currently, he has joined the University of Newcastle, UK.
Manolis Papamichos-Chronakis is interesting in how chromosome structure and function affect genome stability. Specifically, he aims to understand how chromatin is integrated into the genome stability networks and to decipher the interconnections between chromatin regulators and genome stability factors during repair of DNA damage and DNA replication. By using a combination of genetics, cell imaging and high-throughput technologies in budding yeast and human cells he tries to illuminate the interplay between the multiple machineries that keep our genome intact and the chromatin structure of DNA.
