Hands-on Research, Scientists to talk to and much to experience. More than 10 000 visitors came to the Freiburg Science Fair 2013. At the MPI-IE booth, they experienced in a game how the immune system recognizes virally infected cells. Another model showed how different chromatin states are epigenetically regulated and visitors could learn about the general relevance of immunobiology and epigenetics. Additionally, Lucia Guerri and Aline Gaub of the MPI-IE explained children in the science show "The mutant pepper" what mutations are and where they occur in nature.
