PhD Annual Retreat

PhD Annual Retreat

The Annual MPI-IE PhD students retreat is an event organized by students for students and takes place in the summer at various locations in Europe. It provides our fellows with an opportunity to present and discuss their research to colleagues, invited speakers and program alumni and to profit from their experience.

The format of the meeting enhances discussion on scientific and methodological aspects of PhD projects. Additionally, all fellows have a chance to improve their presentation skills in front of a critical audience, as each of our students (except newcomers) give a short talk.

Although the main focus of the retreat is on current research and novel techniques in the field of immunobiology and epigenetics, additional keynote lectures aim to broaden research interests of our fellows. Students invite outstanding scientists working in different fields of natural and life sciences. The last feature of the retreat is the Alumni Talk, where former colleagues share their experience on how to proceed after graduation and thus help our fellows to plan their next career step.
