Every IMPRS-IEM fellow is supported by a Thesis Advisory Committee (TAC) in addition to their direct supervisor. The TAC meets once  year. It is the PhD student's responsibility to schedule the meetings in time. The IMPRS office and PhD  supervisor will help selecting TAC members. This has to happen within the first 5 months of the doctorate. Once the committee members have been chosen, the IMPRS-IEM fellow has to arrange the first TAC meeting within the first 9 months of the doctorate. A short written thesis proposal should be circulated to the committee and the IMPRS office one week before the TAC meeting date. Further TAC meetings should take place every 12 months. Prior to each meeting, a short written progress report is to be distributed to TAC members and the IMPRS office. For doctoral candidates supervised by junior group leaders, at least one TAC member has to be a member of the Faculty of Biology.
