Research interestsDosage compensation requires specific targeting of the dosage compensation machinery to one whole chromosome. How specificity to one chromosome is achieved is not yet completely understood, however recent work suggests that 3D conformation of the X chromosome could play an important role in providing specificity for X chromosomal targeting and spreading of the MSL complex. During my PhD I want to understand more about the structure-function relationship of dosage compensation, i.e. how does chromosome architecture and spatial organization of the X chromosome in the nucleus affect dosage compensation.
