Research interests
Males absent on the first (MOF, also known as KAT8) is an important histone and non-histone protein lysine acetyltransferase most renowned for its role in histone H4K16 acetylation (H4K16ac). It is conserved from Drosophila to Mammals and important in dosage compensation and regulation of house keeping genes. Disruption of MOF and its associated KANSL complex underlies renal pathologies, such as in renal cell carcinoma and the KANSL1-haploinsufficiency associated Koolen de Vries syndrome. My PhD project will focus on studying the roles of the MOF/KANSL complex in the development and function of kidney using mouse models.
