We are looking for a Technical Assistant.
Our Institute investigates the molecular basis of the immune response and other topics of the developmental biology, such as the origin and differentiation of the immune cells as well as the develop-ment of vertebrate embryo. Another main focus of the Institute is Epigenetic. This area deals with inheritable traits, which are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence.
The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany invites applications for a Technical Assistant for our in-house Deep Sequencing Core Facility. The facility is equipped with state-of-the-art sample preparation and high throughput deep sequencing technology (Illumina HiSeq-3000) and supports research groups at the institute as well as external collaborations.
The position is immediately is available in full-time for a period of one year.
Your responsibilities will include high quality sample and library preparation for various deep sequencing projects according to highest international standards. Furthermore you will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of liquid handling and sequencing instruments. You will assist in development of methods and automation of workflows and contribute in management of sequencing projects and the core laboratory.
- Completed education as molecular biologist or equivalent expertise as laboratory technical assistant
- More than two years hands-on expertise with standard molecular biology techniques (especially nucleic acid analysis)
- Experience with laboratory organization
- Detail-oriented and accurate work style
- Good English skills
- Experience with MS Office
We are looking for a highly motivated team player with strong communication skills and the desire to work in a technically oriented, quickly evolving, modern laboratory. The successful applicant will have a thorough understanding of molecular biology techniques and the ability to perform high quality analysis in a responsible and independent manner. Prior experience in deep-sequencing and genomics is considered as plus.

Salary will be based on previous experience according to TVöD guidelines.
