Postdoctoral Position Proteomics (m/f/d)

Job offer from October 31, 2019

The Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany has an opening for a Postdoctoral Position Proteomics (m/f/d) for an initial period of three years.

Our Institute investigates the molecular basis of the immune response and other topics of the developmental biology, such as the origin and differentiation of the immune cells as well as the development of vertebrate embryo. Another main focus of the Institute is Epigenetics. This area deals with inheritable traits, which are not caused by changes in the DNA sequence.

Your tasks:

We are seeking an innovative and highly motivated postdoc to join the proteomics core facility at our institute. The successful candidate will develop novel and apply established proteomics methodologies for protein and PTM quantification in immunology/hematology, chromatin research and RNA biology. The latter will include label-free (DDA-, DIA- and BoxCar LFQ) and isotope labeling (SILAC, TMT) based approaches. Notably, the ideal candidate will develop novel and implement newly emerged workflows for proteomics data analysis and their application in service and collaboration.

Your qualifications:

The preferred candidate is holding a PhD degree in bioanalytical sciences (e.g. analytical biochemistry/biotechnology or proteomics) or bioinformatics/computational proteomics with at least three years of training and hands-on expertise in biomolecular mass spectrometry and proteomics technologies including processing of complex LC-MS data sets. Sound knowledge in quantitative and statistical analysis as well as higher-level bioinformatics tasks, such as pathway and network analysis is considered as an asset. Hence, basic knowledge in programming (e.g. Bioconductor/R, Python) is highly desirable. Advanced English communication skills and the ability to work independently but also function in a team are completing your profile.

We offer:

Salary will be based on previous experience according to TVöD guidelines.

Application deadline:

Have we sparked your interest? Please submit your completed application, including your CV, a short statement of research background/interests and two reference letters via our online application portal by December 02nd, 2019. For informal inquiries please contact:

Handicapped applicants with equal qualifications will be given preferential treatment.
