Mice looking for a new home

To maintain our genetically modified mouse lines, our institute also needs genetically unmodified mice. Some of these mice are purchased from commercial breeders as needed, while others are bred at the institute. Despite careful breeding planning, natural fluctuations in litter size mean that occasionally, some animals are surplus to requirements.

Would you like to give these animals a new home? The MPI-IE gives healthy, non-genetically modified mice (agouti, black, or white coat color) to private owners. The prerequisite for this is that all requirements for the continued well-being of the animals are met. If you are interested, please contact us (tieraerzte@ie-freiburg.mpg.de).
