Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs), positioned at the top of the blood cell formatlon hierarchy, give rise to all differentiated blood cells. The bone marrow niche, comprising various cell types, supports HSCs by secreting critical factors for their maintenance. Metabolites, from cellular or dietary sources, contribute to intercellular communication. However, little is known about the metabolic crosstalk between HSCs and their niche. My goal is to identify secreted metabolites influencing HSC fate. Additionally, I will focus on deciphering how dietary intervention remodels the hematopoietic niche for maintaining a healthy stem cell pool, particularly in aging.
