The Ingrid zu Solms Foundation awarded Dr. Claudia Isabelle Keller, postdoctoral researcher at the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg (MPI-IE), with this year's Ingrid zu Solms Prize for Sciences. The young researcher is honored for her dissertation on “Regulation of heterochromatic RNA decay via heterochromatin protein 1 (HP1)”.

Claudia Keller started her academic career at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research in Basel. Since fall 2013 she works at the MPI-IE in Freiburg as a postdoctoral researcher in the department of Dr. Asifa Akhtar on Chromatin Regulation.

The Ingrid zu Solms Foundation was founded in 1994 by Countess Ingrid zu Solms-Wildenfels. The foundation is dedicated to support especially woman in the sciences and rewards their achievements. The Ingrid zu Solms Prize for Sciences honors outstanding dissertations in the natural sciences, life sciences and engineering.

The award ceremony takes place on November 6th, 2015 in Frankfurt am Main.
