The International Office provides assistance and support to international employees and guests of the MPI-IE with their non-scientific inquiries regarding their arrival and stay in Freiburg.

Starting work at the MPI-IE and relocating to Germany is for many new employees one of the most exciting but also one of the most stressful events in their lives. They have to deal with several legally required formalities, find a flat, register with the city, and get to know the Institute and its workflows. We want new staff members at our Institute to settle in quickly and feel a sense of belonging. That is why we support you with all the essential questions concerning:

The International Office offers our foreign guests, future staff members, and scientists from around the world a wide range of assistance and information to make your start with us go as smoothly as possible. We are very much looking forward to working with you and wish you a successful time at our Institute. Please note that IMPRS students have their own dedicated contact persons.

Our International Officer and the assistants of your department or Group Leader are happy to help you with any questions you may have before you begin working at our Institute.

Our aim is to make your start in Germany as smooth as possible – and of course we are also happy to guide you throughout your stay. Do not hesitate to get in touch with us, as soon as your stay at the MPI-IE is confirmed.

For IMPRS students

IMPRS students have dedicated contacts in the IMPRS Office who support them with their specific needs. Catherine Heath (IMPRS Coordinator) and Lisa Breitner (Assistant) assist doctoral researchers with all matters related to their arrival, onboarding at the Institute and in their labs or during rotations, and provide support throughout their entire research stay.
