Richard Morimoto - The Biology of Proteostasis in Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease

Richard Morimoto, Bill and Gayle Cook Professor of Biology and Director of the Rice Institute for Biomedical Research at Northwestern University, Illinois, USA, joins the Max Planck Freiburg Special Guest Lecture Series in March 2018. On the 22nd of March (starting 1pm in the Main Lecture Hall of the MPI-IE) he will give a talk entitled “The Biology of Proteostasis in Aging and Neurodegenerative Disease”. Your host is Ritwick Sawarkar (MPI-IE). For more information please see: http://www.ie-freiburg.mpg.de/events/11757/4678708 [more]

Max Planck Special Guest Lecture Series

Luca Scorrano - Keeping mitochondria in shape: a matter of life and death

On March 15th, 2018 Luca Scorrano, Professor of Biochemistry at University of Padova and Scientific Director of the Venetian Institute of Molecular Medicine (VIMM, Padova, Italy), is invited by the MPI-IE Post-Doc representatives to give a talk in the Max Planck Special Guest Lecture Series in Freiburg. The expert for mitochondria morphology will give a talk about “Keeping mitochondria in shape: a matter of life and death” in the Main Lecture Hall of the MPI-IE starting at 14:30 pm. More info: http://www.ie-freiburg.mpg.de/events/11765/4678708 [more]

Jörg Büscher – Metabolomik: Dem biochemischen Fingerabdruck des Stoffwechsels auf der Spur.

The talk series “Forschung höchstpersönlich” was established in 2012 at the MPI-IE. Four times a year, scientists of the institute present their research within a broader context to non-scientific employees to allow better insights into the performed research. The talks are hosted by the public relations officer of the institute and are given in German. (http://www.ie-freiburg.mpg.de/events/13019/4678708) [more]

Max Planck Seminar

Jorma Palvimo – Chromatin-wide insights into transcription factor SUMOylation

Jorma Palvimo Professor of Medical Biochemistry at the University of Eastern Finland, Kuopio, Finland will visit Freiburg. On Thursday, March 8th, 2018 the expert on steroid receptors and SUMO modifications in transcriptional regulation will give a talk in the Main Lecture Hall of the MPI of Immunobiology and Epigenetics. The talk is hosted by Max Planck group leaders Andrea Pichler and Ritwick Sawarkar and starts at 1 pm. The talk is entitled “Chromatin-wide insights into transcription factor SUMOylation.” [more]

Max Planck Special Guest Lecture Series

Alexander Stark - Decoding transcriptional regulation

Alexander Stark group leader at Research Institute of Molecular Pathology (IMP) in Vienna joins the Max Planck Special Guest Lecture Series at the MPI-IE. His research is focused on studying regulators of gene expression by combining systematic genome-wide experiments and computational analyses. On March 2nd, 2018 at 13 o'clock he will give a talk entitled “Decoding transcriptional regulation”. The talk will take place in the Main Lecture Hall of the Max Planck Institute of Immunobiology and Epigenetics, Freiburg. (http://www.ie-freiburg.mpg.de/events/11791/2342) [more]

Max Planck Seminar

Jeffrey Rathmell – Fueling T cells in inflammation and immunity

Jeffrey Rathmell is Professor at the Vanderbilt University (Nashville, USA) and visits the MPI-IE Freiburg this February. The Rathmell lab focuses on how metabolic pathways influence the function and fate of lymphocytes in inflammatory diseases, anti-tumor immunity, and in leukemia. Hosted by Erika Pearce, his seminar is entitled “Fueling T cells in inflammation and immunity”. Start is on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1pm.
