The IMPRS-IEM application portal for a start date in May 2020 is now open. Please read our website for information on eligbility.

All applications must be submitted by 04 November 2019.

 

Important dates

  • IMPRS-IEM Application opens September 2019. 
  • Applications must be submitted 04 November 2019. 
  • Reference letters are due the following week.
  • Round One video interviews will occur the week of 2 December 2019.
  • Final candidates will be invited to Freiburg for in-person interviews from 20 to 22 January 2020.
  • Accepted candidates will start their thesis research in May 2020.

Please note that IMPRS-IEM will reimburse travel expenses and cover accommodation for all candidates participating in the interviews in Freiburg.

Please note that you need to have both a BSc and MSc or equivalent (usually 5 years of university studies) to be eligible to join our program. There is no application fee.

Admission process

Admission to IMPRS-IEM is highly competitive and carried out through a centralized selection procedure, divided into several steps: Evaluation of application, video and subsequent in-person interviews in Freiburg.
