The interplay between environmental conditions and gene expression regulation is a widely studied field. Besides the influence of the internal environment, like gender-specific regulation, external environmental factors can also alter gene expression. However, the mechanism by which external environmental cues signal to the chromatin and affect gene expression is still unclear. In my PhD, I aim to identify how nuclear receptors that are expressed in the maternal germline are involved in shuttling external cues from the environment to the next generation by altering the chromatin landscape.
