I am interested in using single-molecule techniques to study the dynamics of transcription in living cells, with a particular focus on its early stages. Specifically, I
am investigating the formation of the Pre-Initiation Complex (PIC) and the regulation of promoter-proximal pausing. These early steps are key rate-determining events in transcription, yet their real-time regulatory dynamics remain largely unknown. By
uncovering the mechanisms that govern these critical processes, I aim to advance our understanding of gene regulation and contribute to the broader goal of deciphering the molecular foundation of life itself.
