Craig Ceol - Deconstructing the melanoma genome

Craig Ceol is Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester (MA, USA). The cancer researcher is focused on malignant melanoma, a very aggressive type of skin cancer. He and his team at UMass work on the understanding of genetic defects that underlie tumor initiation and maintenance by using zebrafish as a model organism. On April 12th, 2018 at 13 o'clock Craig Ceol will give a talk entitled “Deconstructing the melanoma genome” in the Lecture Hall of the MPI. Michael Milsom – Stress-induced stem cell attrition as a driver of hematologic ageing

Michael Milsom, group leader of the HI-STEM Experimental Hematology Group in Heidelberg will visit the MPI-IE on March 16th, 2017. He will give his talk at 4pm in the Main Lecture Hall of the institute. The talk is entitled “Stress-induced stem cell attrition as a driver of hematologic ageing.” [mehr]

Constanze Bonifer – The interplay between constitutive and signaling responsive transcription factors regulates hematopoietic specification

Constanze Bonifer is Chair of Experimental Haematology at the Institute of Cancer and Genomic Sciences (ICGS), University of Birmingham, and is Director of the Birmingham Centre of Genome Biology. In their work, she and her team address the question of how the regulators of transcription, the sequence-specific DNA binding proteins or transcription factors, interact with the chromatin template and change its structure. It is known from genetic studies that chromatin modification complexes play essential roles in all phases of the development of multicellular organisms and that transcription factors bring these epigenetic regulatory proteins to specific genes. Constanze Bonifer will give a talk about her research at the MPI-IE Freiburg (Main Lecture Hall) on March 14th, 2017 at 11am. [mehr]
