In this seminar, Yi Zhang will share his latest research findings and insights into the complex mechanisms that regulate the activation and silencing of genes during early embryonic development. He will discuss the role of chromatin modifications in regulating gene expression, including the dynamic changes that occur during the transition from the maternal to the zygotic genome. [mehr]

The Swiss Neuroepigeneticists, Johannes Gräff is Associate Professor at Brain Mind Institute at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) in Switzerland and joins our Max Planck Seminar in March 2023 and will give a talk on “Epigenetic editing of memory formation”. The Swiss chemist and molecular biologist, Beat Fierz, currently an Associate Professor at the EPFL joins the Max Planck Seminar Series in October 2022. He will give a talk on “Searching and accessing the genome within the dynamic chromatin landscape”. [mehr]

The former MPI-IE research group leader, now Director of Institute of Functional Epigenetics at Helmholtz Zentrum Munich, Prof. Dr. Robert Schneider returns for one seminar to his old work-place in Freiburg. He will give a talk entitled “Chromatin modifications and their role in transcription” on November 13th, 2019 (at 1pm). The talk takes place in the Main Lecture Hall of the MPI-IE. [mehr]

The Bonasio lab is studying the molecular mechanisms of epigenetic memory and is part of the Department of Cell and Developmental Biology and the Penn Epigenetics Institute (University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, USA). Roberto Bonasio will join the Max Planck Seminar series on July 22, 2019 (4pm) and will present on “Epigenetics of behavior and brain plasticity in ants”.
