Seminare & Veranstaltungen

The talk series “Forschung höchstpersönlich” was established in 2012 at the MPI-IE. Four times a year, scientists of the institute present their research within a broader context to non-scientific employees to allow better insights into the performed research. The talks are hosted by the public relations officer of the institute and are given in German. [mehr]

John O’Shea - Genomic Views of Lymphocyte Differentiation and Activation

Max Planck Special Guest Lecture Series
Physician and immunologist John O’Shea, who is the scientific director of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) as well as Chief of the Molecular Immunology and Inflammation Branch at the National Institute of Health (NIH), Bethesda, USA takes part in the Special Guest Lecture Series of the Max Planck Freiburg. John O' Shea will speak on the topic of “Genomic Views of Lymphocyte Differentiation and Activation”. Tuncay Baubec - Regulation of de novo DNA methylation

Max Planck Seminar
Tunca Baubec from the Department of Molecular Mechanisms of Disease at University of Zurich, Switzerland was invited by Nicola Iovino from the MPI-IE to give a talk in Freiburg. The epigeneticist will give a Max Planck Seminar on November 30th, 2017. Title of the talk is: “Regulation of de novo DNA methylation”. The seminar takes place in the Main Lecture Hall of the Max Planck Institute. [mehr]
The tri-national "Transcription and Chromatin Club" is a half-day symposium that brings together chromatin, epigenetics, and transcription groups from within the Strasbourg (IGBMC), Freiburg (MPI-IE), and Basel (FMI) area. In addition to external keynote speakers, PhD students and Postdocs are encouraged to present their work. With an informal but high quality atmosphere, the meeting aims to foster discussion and inspiring new and strengthen existing collaborations. [mehr]

Paul Martin - Studying inflammation in wound healing and cancer

Max Planck Special Guest Lecture Series
Paul Martin is Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Bristol. He and his lab works on wound healing and has established models (Drosophila, zebrafish and mouse) to study the molecular and cellular basis of tissue repair and the associated wound inflammatory response. Currently the lab is investigating the genetics and cell biology of wound inflammation, in order to learn how best to modulate the inflammatory response to prevent fibrosis, and identifying parallels between wound and cancer-triggered inflammation. Paul Martin will give his talk “Studying inflammation in wound healing and cancer” in the Main Lecture Hall of the MPI-IE on Thursday, Nov., 23rd 2017 at 1pm. [mehr]

Daniel Jarosz – Deciphering the biochemical basis of phenotypic change

Max Planck Seminar

Eugene Oltz – Normal and Pathogenic Regulatory Circuits Governing Gene Expression in Human Lymphoid Cells

Max Planck Seminar
Eugene Oltz, Professor of Pathology and Immunology at the Division of Laboratory and Genomic Medicine, Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis (USA), will come to Freiburg on November 10th, 2017. He and his lab at WashU are focussing on how “genetic control elements communicate with epigenetic pathways to orchestrate aberrant changes in gene expression that underlie non-Hodgkin lymphoma; gene expression programs for normal B and T lymphocyte development, and; long-range changes in chromatin required for the assembly of antigen receptor genes by V(D)J recombination.” (source: Oltz Lab page). At the MPI-IE he will give a talk entitled “Normal and Pathogenic Regulatory Circuits Governing Gene Expression in Human Lymphoid Cells”. Start is in the Main Lecture Hall of the institute at 1pm. Emmanouil Dermitzakis - Contribution of non-coding DNA to complex disease and cancer

Max Planck Special Guest Lecture Series
Emmanouil T. Dermitzakis is Professor at the Department of Genetic Medicineand Development (University of Geneva Medical School, Switzerland). In his lab on Functional Population Genomics and Genetics of Complex Traits Laboratory he and his team are focussing on genome-wide analysis of gene expression variation and cellular phenotypes and association with nucleotide variation with a focus on disease susceptibility. Emmanouil joins the MPI-IE Special Guest Lecture Series with a talk on “Contribution of non-coding DNA to complex disease and cancer”.
